Weather Systems series, The Burj Project
2012 - Not Finished
The Burj Project includes 2 series (or more) depending on where the project will take me during the research and work process. It mainly reflects my experience with the city of Dubai, where I have moved to in 2011.
The Burj represents the city (Dubai) as a symbolic icon which drives millions of visitors to come and see every year, yet it is the same building that I used to see from my window every day, for two years.
‘Weather Systems' is the first series from The Burj Project. The title of the series is derived from an album by the British band Anathema. This album was playing in the background when I was observing the view from my window, which later was captured in my imagination with the lyrics and the titles of each track in the album.
When I started to pay attention to the scenery around the building and the impact of the changes in the weather on it, it felt like The Burj is constantly changing its mood, and so am I! Letting my emotions flow I have started to capture the Burj whenever the weather changed while enjoying the various scenes I’m capturing, and linking them to the songs in the album.
That building has motivated me to discover and know more about the city.
“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.” ― Lao Tzu
